Excited and Confused — and a Brief Bio

Hello Blog World.
My name is Brent Clarke. I’m the owner of High Noon Photography in El Paso, Texas.

I’ve been a professional photographer now for the last 2 years, but prior to that I worked in Broadcasting for nearly 25 years. I started out my career as a News Photographer at the ABC affiliate, which still allowed me to employ a lot of the photography basics I had learned in college. The last 15 years or so I was employed as the News Operations Manager at two local stations here in El Paso, Texas. This job still exposed me to overseeing all the photography elements of the Television News operations.

Building a studio from the ground up was indeed challenging as the owner of my own business. Years ago I had overseen the design and building of the studio at a local school district here in El Paso. However, there are a number of differences in trying to produce broadcasting material as opposed to studio portrait work. Yet both were a lot of fun and exciting to do, and I learned quite a bit.

While I enjoyed broadcasting, I truly missed shooting with an SLR or doing darkroom work. Now film is digital and chemicals have been replaced by software programs like Photoshop . Yet the challenges and rewards with these tools are something I’ve enjoyed for some time now.

I’ve decided at this time to keep my focus with the business aspect to largely portrait work. I love shooting still life, landscape, macro and journalism photography. In fact I have galleries of pictures from various locations on my website for viewing and purchase. But the larger body of work is portrait. Currently, I’m offering :

  • Family/Group Portraits,
  • Child Photography,
  • Newborn/Baby Photography,
  • Maternity/Pregnancy Photography,
  • High School Senior Portraits,
  • Model – Corporate Portfolios, and
  • Executive Portfolio and Business Headshots.

On top of that I’m learning about Blogs and marketing and Google and everything else that leaves me at times dazed and confused. It too is exciting, but if you see mistakes here on my blog, just know you have a rookie amongst you.

I hope to hear any of your comments, suggestions, friendly hellos and anything else you might want to share.

Homely, But Friendly.
